Our First Collaboration: An Interview with Artist Soauki

Are you excited to hear about our first artist collaboration? We sat down with the talented Soauki to learn more about their art, inspiration, and creative process. In this exclusive interview, get an inside look at what it's like to work with this amazing artist and learn a bit more about Soauki!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NoiR: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today, Soauki. To begin, can you tell us how you first became interested in anime and manga and what or who inspired you to begin creating your own illustrations in that style?

Soauki: My school friend got me into anime when i was about 11, she taught me how to draw anime characters and that when i got into art, anime and other stuff as well.

NoiR: That's great! It's always fun to have friends who introduce you to new things and share their interests with you. could you tell us a bit about the tools and equipment you use when creating your watercolor paintings? we would love to see some pictures of those tools and materials if your willing to share with us!

Soauki: yep, do you want to send some pictures?

NoiR: Yes please!

Soauki: these are the watercolors I use.

NoiR: Wow, those are impressive! It's clear that you have a lot of experience and dedication to your craft, just by the way they are well-worn and well-used. And how long have you been practicing watercolor painting? and have you always been a watercolor artist?

Soauki: Yep always have been a watercolour artist. I've been drawing since about 2018

NoiR: So 2023 will be your 5th year now wow! No wonder your arts are amazing! Can you describe your artists style and how it changed overtime?

Soauki: Nah I still feel like my skills are not good enough despite having five yeas of experience, I used to have a cute pastel style in the past.. I think?

NoiR: Cute pastel style of art I see, It is more dynamic and some gore/dark elements in yours style right now I believe?

Soauki: Really? Lmaooo

NoiR: lol

NoiR: Could you explain a little bit about your creative process when working on an illustration/project? from coming up with the idea to completing the final product.

Soauki: Uhh I usually just draw whatever's on my mind actually, I don't really have a process

NoiR: Oh really? so you usually go from sketch straight to coloring?

Soauki: yep

NoiR: Wow I know many artists have many steps and process while their working but you do them all in 2 steps, you must work very efficiently!

Soauki: No, I still take a long time since I have to tidy up the sketch plus I don't really feel the motivation to draw like I used last year, I actually don't know why I spent so much time on a piece tho

NoiR: Thank you for sharing that with me. It can be difficult to maintain motivation and focus when it comes to creative pursuits. Hopefully you regain your motivation in the near future!

NoiR: and lastly, any advices to someone who is looking to improve their water coloring skills and develop their own unique style? are there any technique or approaches that you have found particularly helpful in your own work?

Soauki: I'm not really good with advices sorry, I don't really have any shortcuts or techniques. I feel like all I did was practice, and repeat that over and over again.

NoiR: No need to be sorry! Practice makes perfect Afterall!

NoiR: It was so great getting to know you and your artwork better. Your talent and creativity are truly impressive, and we can't wait to see what you do next. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us and share your insights
